Epico Jahns School Bus
Epico Jahns is a primary school run by ICODEI, our partner charity in Western Kenya. The social mission of this local organization has led it to house 200 children from the most disadvantaged families in the area. As the families have no other means of transport, the children who live further than walking distance from the school must be picked up by the organization’s sole minibus. This is very dangerous, as over 30 children are crammed into this dilapidated 14-seater per journey, meaning that the slightest road accident has the potential to turn deadly, and a full on collision would result in unspeakable tragedy. Further, the mini-bus breaks down alarmingly frequently, sometimes leaving the children stranded the whole day in remote locations. Even at the best of times, the minibus is in extremely bad condition and ensures that the children have a very intoxicating, fume-filled, bone-shaking journey.
 The School Bus initiative will create a fund that will allow Epico Jahns to purchase a solid, dependable, road-worthy school bus which can be used to transport the children safely to and from school. Donors to this initiative will have their name, or the name of their organization, written on the bus (ie. Proudly Sponsored By...). As with all of our projects, a detailed report on how your donation was used will be made available to you, as well as pictures of the project from our partner, ICODEI.
